The LEDs will not dim. This is to be expected. Diodes have an exponential I-V characteristics. Incandescent light bulbs are dimmed by lowering the voltage on the bulb since they have a linear I-V characteristics. Therefore, if you install LEDs, they will dim ever so slightly and turn of abruptly after that. Anyone with an illuminated kick plate can experience this themselves by holding the door switch with their fingers until the lights dim off and see how the kick plate light reacts to dimming. This is my main reason for not wanting to change the map light bulbs. But the license plate and trunk lights are useful!
