Default Why Am I Doing This

So I have this terrible but amazing idea. Ducktails and Wings are cool and all but what if you could have an active spoiler on the Z? I’m planning to install a 2012 Lexus LF active spoiler mechanism and then modifying it to fit the Z. This is probably never going to work but I’m just wondering what everyone else thinks about my idea.

Depends on your skill set. You'll need mechanical skills to mount the wing and associated actuators. Wiring everything up might be tricky, especially if you don't have wiring diagrams and/or a harness to work with. You'll need to figure out how to get the vehicle's speed into the wing controller.

Interesting project. Please keep us updated.

Yea I don’t know if I’ll do this or not cause the amount of dedication but I went through all the engineering etc classes back in school so I kind of know how to go through with this. The pros and cons with doing what I’m talking about are all over the place like pros is that it’s cool and unique but cons are it’s (probably) never been done before for the Z or even most cars so I’m literally sailing into uncharted waters but this is one of those things that after all the blood sweat and tears it’ll be worth it

So here’s a better way to explain what I’m talking about...

So this is what I’m trying to do but instead of a $375k Lexus, a $40k Nissan

I think it's a cool concept. Other than track use, not sure of its practicality/functionality for normal street use.

To be honest, I don’t think that in doing this it will benefit the aerodynamics at all, it may for all I know actually hinder the performance, but this is one of those type things that really don’t have any much of a use other than “being cool”. Idk I have always loved the way that the McLaren P1, Jaguar C-X75, Bugatti Chiron, etc. had the active spoilers, and now by doing this my Z will too. Plus this is also something that would be extremely unique at Z meets or even regular car meets.

It's not only found on expensive cars. The Crossfire had it years ago.

Good luck with your project. Definitely a unique idea

So as of right now I’m looking into purchasing this

http://japan.toylexparts.com/lexus/4...3/7601/760776a

I haven’t been able to find the measurements of this assembly but if I do and it fits I’ll buy it and if not then I’ll either look for another one or try and find my own
