Default Window rolls down halfway?

Hello one and all! I just noticed a strange issue that started today. It seems that my drivers side window has been possessed! For some strange reasons, after I back out of my driveway and go to roll the window back up with the auto feature, it rolls all the way up and then back down half-way. Okay that's weird. I try again. Same thing. I try manually pulling it up and it does the same thing. After 3-5 recycles, it just magically stops and works perfectly. Sometimes it does the up-down halfway thing and sometimes it works fine from the get go. Passenger window works fine 100% of the time.

I just did the window reset so we shall see if that corrects the problem. Has anyone else had this problem and does it mean something if it continues?

Thanks for any input! Also I tried searching for this problem and most threads were on the accidental holding the unlock problem or the auto-seal function.

No tune, no battery disconnects for the last 1500 miles

EDIT: I guess its going into pinch-protection mode?

You may be right. I just stuck a couple of magazines in the way of the window closing - it stopped and rolled about halfway down. You may be able to adjust it yourself; see the FSM.

Heh I used my arm to test it out. Scary at first but it works! 1000 Ways to Die is still in the back of your mind when you do it!

Well its still acting finicky. My plan of action is the following:

1. Disconnect and reconnect the window controller and resetting it

2. Disconnecting the battery and resetting the ECU.

If that doesn't do it, I'm guessing it's the window motor giving me an issue. Anyone else have any ideas as to what this could be??

There's something in the door that senses the position of the window (switches, encoder, pot). Sounds to me like it is out of adjustment. Procedures should be in the FSM.

Yeah I read something about taking the door panel off to access a reset switch or something. I'll pull out my FSM I seriously suck at putting on the door panel on with those clips so maybe the next oil change, I'll mention it to my mechanic. It's more of a convenience thing. Thanks for the help!

I know the feeling. I paid my favorite body shop $50 to R&R the interior panels in the hatch area so I could install sound damping. If it's held together with nuts, bolts, and push-rivets, I'll attack it in a heartbeat. Interior panels are another story.

Absolutely! Those body clips are the worst. If you have ever taken off the knee pads to access the head unit screws, now that is how the door panel should be held on. I just went through the FSM. Unfortunately it was like trying to understand my drunk texts the next day so I'll just live with the issue for now.
