IMO it just looks like a Kludge. It's trying to be too much and answer a question that was never asked... especially with the drive indicator plate still in place. I mean, wtf?

I'm sure there are those that think it's cool.

Your ability to know whether a question about automobile interiors has ever been asked or not is very impressive

fyi, my issue was with the black sliding plastic piece underneath the indicator plate. It's just damn ugly...it's like an engineering afterthought. The drive indicator is still in place because the car is an AUTO. You assume I am trying to make the shifter look manual.
