Default What’s the deal with bride seats?

Hello, all!

I have a chance at grabbing a set of one of the higher tier “quality” BRAUM seats.

My upholstry shop is telling me that BRAUM is trash and I’ve been trying to do some research but I can’t really find anything as to why they’re bad.

Are they unsafe in accidents?

I don’t really mind the comfort ability of it as they’re going to be redone by my upholstry shop, anyways.

What’s your verdict on BRAUM seats? Trash or worth? What’s your reasoning?

I sat in a set of Braum seats not bride seats . Am 6’ 180lbs. The seats backs had way to much flex for me . There just cheap seats, I don’t know how the frames are or you’re shop can make them better. Jv

I have never sat in them but if this is the case, DON'T waste your money on them. You don't want your seats to have any flex in them and you do want them to be comfortable and most of all SAFE!!!

Are we in some type of other parallel universe that's actually perpendicular at 45 degree angles? I mean, what's going on here?

i mean, you get what you pay for. If you are tight with money, save some more and buy a decent pair from a good known company. It will be worth the wait

I wouldn't bet my life on an aftermarket seat that isn't FIA certified.

I thought FIA certified seats are almost always fixed back seats? For street safety, I think you want TUV (more stringent than DOT) approved seats.

And Braum does advertise some of their seats as FIA certified.

Last time I checked, there were a very few reclinable FIA certified seats. It's been years since I looked though.

Pretty sure all of Braum's FIA certified seats are fixed back. Not to mention they are pretty much always out of stock from my experience.

I was just trying to say, our oem seats aren’t FIA certified either, so are many other much more expensive aftermarket seats.

So everyday, almost all of us are actually trusting our lives in non FIA certified seats.

I am just speaking to the general idea, I have no clue as to the internal constructions of Braum seats.

True, but there's millions of dollars and countless cars destroyed during comprehensive crash testing of the OEM equipment. I don't think many aftermarket suppliers are doing the same, so you just have to buy the best you can.

Personally, I wouldn't do aftermarket seats on a street car. I've done it, but I was always a little uncomfortable since I'd deleted side airbags and didn't know how well the aftermarket stuff would fare in an accident. Now that I'm old, it's either full cage, harnesses and FIA seats, or a completely OEM setup.
