Angry Shopping cart damage

Some punk left a shopping cart out in the middle of the local Home Depot parking lot. Came to my car to find it leaning on my car (I park way out too), and a dent about 3/4" in length above my rear wheel well on the rear quarter panel. I think about 5 people walking in the parking lot looked straight at me when I yelled "What the F@$%!!!" Errrrr. Getting this fixed this Wed at my dealership. They have a dent guy that comes around every Wed. Apparently he will have to drill a hole behind it inside the wheel well to push it out. Gonna cost around $75. I'll try and post some before and after pics.

did you go in and complain to home depot? some stores will pay for it to be taken out and will reimburse you just to keep you happy.

Actually, I talked to the loss prevention guy at the store to see if he could catch the license plate of the person who did it on video. Turns out I was just outside the viewable area. But no, they didn't lead me to believe they would compensate me at all for it. I can't blame them though. It's not their fault. They have cart return stations everywhere in the parking lot.

Sorry to hear.

I hate going shopping in fun cars. I take my beater to the stores. I park at the best spot closest to the store and forget about it.

WOW, another home depot cart story. Exact same thing happened to me a few month ago when I was driving my wifes Subaru Triebca at Home Depot. It was a windy day and I always park my car far from others, coz the wind always blows doors open and I didnt want any door dings. Anyway, got out of the car and in the corner of my eye, I see a orange home depot shopping cart racing towards my passenger side! I raced to stop it, but I was 1 second too late. HUGE gash on the passenger door. Totally got my "pissed off" meter at full throttle! Spoke with the manager at Home depot and he submitted a claim, but after review by Home Depot insurance, it was not covered. So, cost out of pocket for me was $850. And Ill I wanted were some screws at Home depot, now I have $852 screws now.

Drilling holes to pull the dent? Can't the wheel well plastic liner be removed by taking off the plastic clips? Take a look before anyone drills into anything. Many dent guys can use suction cups to pull the dent too.

that sucks. Hopefully it comes out. They should put brakes on shopping carts, so it can only be moved when someone is grabbing onto the handle.

well at least at the store i work out i know if you go inside and talk to a manager that we will pay for it to get fixed, but we also have people dedicated to retrieving carts and our store feels as if it is our responsibility.

I agree with Spearfish25. A quality body shop should be able to repair that dent WITHOUT drilling holes in the fender well. Drilling a hole is unnecessary.

They own the carts and the parking lot, and they have employees who collect the carts (negligence)...at least, that's the angle I would go with.

They could put foam protectors on the carts to prevent the damage, etc.

Depending on how accessible the dent is he might have to drill. Drilling is an extra step and risk for the pdr tech so he will obviously try to fix without drilling.

But its not out of the norm to drill the rear quarter wheel well to gain access. He'll just plug it using a plastic plug and it'll be good as new.
