Interior plastic bar removal

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to remove this? I've been searching youtube and here but honestly I'm not even sure how to look for what I need exactly, I'm not sure if that bar has name or anything. I need to remove it to install a harness bar. Any help is appreciated.

Assuming you mean the aluminum bar that runs behind the seats check this thread out:

Also, download a copy of the FSM from one of the many links on the forum. It is like the bible for how to remove stuff from our cars.

****, that thing is aluminium. Do I even actually need a harness bar? What if I just put the harnesses on that?

DO NOT use the factory bar for a harness attachment. It is not strong enough due to both wall thickness and chassis attachment method.

This cannot be stressed enough - don't use the bar for anything to do with harnesses. The bar is pretty strong in compression; not so much for lateral forces.

Thanks for the info guys. I downloaded the FSM and noticed I didnt have to remove the aluminium bar to install the harness bar.

However, after I removed both seatbelt upper bolts, and tried to hook them back with the new harness bar, it seems I migth have screwed up the socket because the driver's side bolt wont go back in. I have no idea what to do now.

I tried to put the bolt alone into the socket, and no go. The bolt seems rigth, so I fear the socket is all scrapped. I don't even know how to start fixing this mess.

Unless you forced things, the threads should be OK.

You may have gotten some dirt in the threads - inspect and clean as needed.

Try turning the bolt CCW until you feel the bolt drop just a little bit, try to go CW with bolt. If it jams, go CCW again until you feel the second drop, turn CW. Repeat until you have gone 360 deg CCW with bolt.

So I inspected it and cleaned it as best as I could. Still no go. I took out the bolt from the other side and tried it on the driver's side. No go.

Now I was really scared. I thought I'd done some damage to the frame or something. But after removing every single plastic piece from the interior, I realized those guys at Nissan are always 3 steps ahead of me. It seems I only need to replace that piece, you can see some dents on the pictures. And the dent of the bolt.

Find out what the thread of the bolt is and buy a tap to chase the female threads that are fubar'ed and then just get a new bolt.

I believe the bolt is a M12 with 1.25mm pitch. Is there somewhere to confirm this? The nissan part website doesnt list it, so I cant even get a proper part number.

FSM will have that info.

Couldn't find it. All I found was the torque spec, and that it's called "Anchor Bolt".

If you can't find specs in FSM, an online parts store (eg, Courtesy Parts) may have them.

If all else fails, measure the bolts you have.
