Default blinking side emblem on base

Hi all, I've tried to search but there is nowhere I can find the information.

I have a base 2016 Z and I'm wondering what needs to be done in order to get the side marker to light up. If I purchase the emblem with the build in oem leds, is this straight forward swar or I need to wire it? does the plug and everything is there on the base model?

thanks a lot everyone!

Ooops... didn't realize Nissan got all cheap and replaced the side markers with blanks. Just check down in the hole in the fender and see if you can spot the harness connector. It tends to fall down in there when I take mine out during a detail. I've got some long, curved needle nose pliers that work great for fishing it out (just be extra careful or protect the fender by wrapping a cloth loosely around the pliers).

The FSM will tell you if the harness-side connector is there, connector shape/pins, and pinout. But I'm confident that JARblue is right.

Yes. Base emblems are not electric, so you need to buy the ones used on a sport models which have the bulbs and replace yours with them. All the wiring is there.

Nissan got cheap out and put blank ones in the base models as of 2015 I think.

Yes it does, because it is not a base.

You won't beleive it, on base 370z, the side are not blinking.

The harness is there but IT IS ACTUALLY CONNECTED TO THE NON LIGHTING SIDE MARKERS!!!

Yeah you ear me, the did a side marker that is powered and all but that does not light. I simply disconnect, reconnected the one from the sport model and tadam it's blinking...

i'm speachless this is my non led side marker, I mean at this point if they wanted to save money, they could have simply glue a logo there!!

Think of how Nissan would build a car. They make the same body, the same engine, the same wiring harness for all 370Zs. They put it together and then based on demand or schedule decide if it going to be a base or a sport. At that point they would put different brakes on, different seats, different side-markers, different wings, etc. They do not make a separate harness for base and and another for the rest, its just one harness. IT would not be cost effective.
