Rear Bumper Paint Peeling

Both mine and my brother's have/had this issue. Both cars were just purchased by us (obviously), mine built in Jan 2016, his Nov 2015. We thought it might have been caused by the protective film being yanked off, taking the paint with it. Both cars had it on the rear driver's bumper.

My brother had his fixed, bought the car over 3 weeks ago and just took delivery of it this past Wednesday as the body shop is behind about 2 weeks. I'm waiting for them to take mine in and have it fixed as well.

I have the same issue with my car. I had the dealer fix it last week. It looks like they just used a touch up pen over the flaking paint. Their quick fix lasted less than a week. I have another appointment on Monday. Here is a picture of the dealers handy work. Hate to say it, I am now regretting this purchase and will never buy another Nissan product. Should have saved up a little more and gotten another Lexus.

That stinks, I completely feel your pain man, I was so mad! Hang in there and don't let Nissan/dealership push you around, I would insist on the entire bumper being redone or them blending that area in. Touch up paint won't do it. Once car is ready though, make sure you put some of that 3m double tape in between so it doesn't happen again. If you like me and care about the fit and finish, you can even do that yourself, I took my time and now I have a front bumper that is completely aligned and that I am happy with. Don't let that get in the way of enjoying what is a nice car.

That's pure B.S. The only way it would be acceptable ( or done right ) is to remove the bumper! Final answer. Sadly if done so, it might not match!

That's my biggest fear. Instead of dealing with the peeling paint, I'll end up dealing with a mismatched bumper - LOL. It wouldn't surprise me if that happened.

I was worried about this too... find a shop you like, it should be your choice, they should be able to match it. The local high end shop that did my car laughed at me when I was worried about that, re assured me they deal with much more expensive cars and these day have the technology to get it done right. I have the Pearl white on my car, and the match is perfect, dare I say better than what I had prior to the bumper being taken off and repainted.

that is a tough call because matching the paint isn't easy. i think it would be worse if the entire bumper is a few shades off.

Ok guys got the car fixed. They pulled the bumper and shot the area that was jacked up. Looks better than the original paint pen fix.
