Default Do I Need To Reprogram..?

Hey guys,

So my battery in my keyfob was running low so I bought a new battery and replaced it but when I press the buttons on the keyfob, it won't even work. I was reading other posts but I'm still not sure what to do. Do you guys think I'll need to get the keyfob reprogrammed? And that's for both of my keyfobs.. I tried sticking in the key into the "fobgina" but I did it wrong and almost got it stuck so now I'm too scared to try it again.

Try the old battery and if it works?

The replacement battery is either no good or the wrong type.

You should not have to get it reprogrammed if the battery need replacing.

Assuming it worked fine before.

Since it worked before you changed the battery, I think Trips is on the right track - battery problem. Make sure it's the proper battery and that it is installed correctly. You might want to clean the battery contacts.

The fob should not need to be reprogrammed. The code is stored in permanent, non-volatile memory. Unless it is subjected to a very strong EM field, the programming will not change.

how'd you almost get the fob stuck in the fobjina?

i always put my keys into my fobjina since i hate it in pockets and the cupholder is for the wallet/phone.

also when the battery is dead if you put the key into the fobjina (btw i really like that term now) it should still be able to start the car.

did you put the battery in the wrong direction maybe?

Thanks Trips & SouthArk370Z! I put the old battery in and it worked so I was able to make it to work today on time, thank God! It was weird because I've never in my life bought a pair of new batteries and they didn't work. I still have my receipt so I'm going to exchange it and hopefully they will be good. I bought the CR2032 and put it in right for sure.

I guess I put it in wrong? I don't know lol.. I put the battery in the right direction for sure. I looked at the owners manual but it doesn't even give a clear picture on how to insert the key. When I got it stuck, I almost bent the key but I luckily was able to take it out. I never want to go through with that experience again.
