Default Cracked/peeling dash?

Hello everyone. I had my Z for 5 years and still running great, but there is one problem though, my interior seems to be cracked/peeling at some areas. The thing is, my Z is always garaged so it doesn't made any sense at all if it was caused by heat. So guys, do any of you have the same problem as mine?

Looks like a manufacturer's defect IMO. No modern car over $15k should have cracking like that before at least 10 years.

some ford, chevy and dodge trucks split their dashes in about 5 years.

Hi Iwan72, I'm from Brunei and my Z is exhibiting the same problem. Like yours, mine's rarely driven, kept in a garage and when driven, mostly at night. Only 46 thousand kilometers in 4 years.

I would suggest you hound Boustead and insist they fix it under goodwill warranty. I'm doing exactly that and waiting for them to give me a decision. You should not have to fix this out of your own pocket.

What a joke. Cracked dashboard in a car in this day and age is rare regardless of age and brand.

Best of luck to you.

Guys, my 5 years plus old 370z is exhibiting the same cracking at almost the same area on the dash. This suck!

Let me know how are you dealing with it. Is there is oem part replacement for this?

Hi viceroy666,

I know it has been a while since you posted your message. I managed to get the dealer here to replace the entire dash, I had to pay the labor charges which I wasn't too happy with but they did pay for the part. Considering my car is out of warranty, it's not too bad I suppose.

The dash is still ok at the moment but I expect it to crack again in the future unless Nissan has changed the material used to make the part which I doubt.

Your location says you live in Brunei. If you are parking outside, any interior is going to deteriorate faster than if you were in, say, Canada. Using cleaners/protectants that leech the plasticizers from the material will hasten the process. A solid black interior doesn't help.

But I agree with Push370zzz - a dash made with modern materials should hold up for more than five years. Unless you have been abusing it.

My little bro's Altima is cracking a little. It's not a big long one like you have but it's breaking down. He thinks it's started when he used a certain interior cleaner. Mayhaps that's it?

my steering wheel is peeling on my Z, i park it indoors and use a windshield cover when i park on sunny days. shift knob is doing the same thing :/. btw guys, if anyone is interested in knowing, a replacement circle (not the whole airbag, button controls) but just the wheel itself from nissan OEM is $1250

You can buy the 2015 Nismo wheel like I did for about $350 shipped from Japan (depending on the Yen). Check out RHDjapan.com. It is OEM, Nissan part number and packaging.

My Z is 6 years old and the interior is in almost perfect condition...i agree with what somebody else already said, i think it's whatever interior cleaner you were using that basically is making the plastics shrink
