I found one company in Canada that makes a single strut bar for our 370Z and claims it is 10lbs. If true it would be a big weight reduction. The only problem is the internet is full of bad reviews and experiences with this company. Have to keep looking and or try to have one made. http://www.ultraracingcanada.com/ima...1)-500x500.jpg |
Look up RJM Manufacturing on Facebook.

def will check this out ...
I'm running the new AAM Competition Intake Manifold so it might not fit around the front ... probably need one that runs over the top like OEM. |
I'm also going to make a cromoly brace over the winter and make a few extra. I'll likely sell it cheaper than that.

The 370Z Weight Reduction Thread
If anyone is still looking for a lightweight battery that won't break the bank; I just purchased the Duracell Ultra AGM powersport battery for less than what the PC680 costs. Haven't tried it yet but I will on Thursday and let you guys know. Here's the weight. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...36e721f849.jpg
Model number DURAGM-18L CCA330 |

Would love to hear your feedback on this battery. Nice find Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hey everyone. So I can give you guys some insight into the glass aspect on the Z seeing as how I work for Safelite. You can definitely shave around five pounds installing an aftermarket windshield depending on the brand.
There are a few brands I would definitely stay away from however. Benson, Xyg, and most recently Pilkington. Pilkington used to be a great manufacturer for aftermarket windshields but it looks they have shifted their focus on quality towards they're OEM partnerships. If you need your windshield replaced I would recommend asking for brands such as Fuyao, AGC, or PGW. They're lighter than the OEM Carlex brand and meet the same DOT safety standards with excellent quality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
And there are people that would shy away from Fuyao simply because they are a Chinese company. I can assure you that this company actually makes better quality glass than some of the American brands.

Depending on where you live, replacement usually runs around $350 with Safelite. Cheaper if you bring it into a shop and easier on the technician as well.

Awesome information
Any specs into each glass weights ? |
Unfortunately not. I didn't have a scale when I compared the weights by simply lifting it. I do know Fuyao and AGC felt like the two lightest. There is also a brand called Saint Gobain Sekurit that I know makes the lightest windshields I have ever come across. They didn't have one in stock at the warehouse so I wasn't able to compare that one. If that brand even makes windshields for the Z. They're an OEM manufacturer for VW, Porsche, and a handful of Nissans.
