Default Tow Hook FItment Issues/Question

Hello,

I ordered a tow hook from Ptuning.com for my 2010 370z. It arrived yesterday and I found that the bolt does not fit into the bolt hole that it is supposed to mount to.

I was able to screw in and unscrew the stock tow hook without issue two weeks ago.

So I have a few questions,

1. Is it possible that the bolt hole is simply very cold, (temp is currently 7 degrees) causing it to shrink ever so slightly as to not allow the room temperature tow hook to screw in as it is supposed to?

2. I thought that the tow hook bolt was a universal size, is it possible that Ptuning sent me the wrong sized bolt?

I figured I'd ask these questions before calling their customer service because they will likely be closed by this evening when I am free to make phone calls. But if I could deduce that they sent me the wrong size. I could shoot them an email right now and expedite the whole process.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

I'd call PTuning. Sounds like the wrong thread on the bolt.

FWIW, The stock one should work fine, although some recovery vehicles need at least a 2.5" diameter hole.

Did you mention it was for a 370Z when you ordered?

Yes sir.

They actually already screwed up once. I ordered the 370z (non nismo) racing tow hook kit 2 weeks ago, and they shipped me the license plate mounting kit instead. Then I called and they looked at my order number to see that I ordered the tow hook. Promptly sent me a shipping label and I sent the license plate mounting kit (which I did NOT order) back to them. And then they shipped me what they said would be what I ordered (370z, non Nismo, racing tow hook kit) and it arrived yesterday, only to find that it does not fit

Good that you specified. They can't blame you for no telling them.

Default Tow Hook

I've had the same problem with an after market hook. The threads are just wrong. Don't force it, return it.
