Default 2015 370Z Hatch Question

Before I bother suffering through a dealer service appointment I wanted to make sure this was an actual problem and not simply a design flaw..

I understand that the 370 is not a "luxury" vehicle or a soccer mom-mobile.

But...

Is it too much to expect that the hatch closes on its own when lowered? I find that I have to either give it an extra push on the way down or a second press in order to fully close.

Is this the way it's supposed to work or does it need to be looked at?

Our hatches suck and have always taken a herculean effort to close. First world problems.

considering they had issues with the hatch not unlocking on the first try and them using harder springs (or penny mod) earlier on, this is normal..

Never had a problem not latching properly after giving the hatch a healthy shove to close. Unlocking in cold weather is a problem and often takes a couple of trys or a two handed effort i.e. one hand pushing the unlock botton and another lifting the hatch. All in all, works well for the most part.

You need to put on a Nismo wing to make it heavier and easier to close.

Instead of a hatch that automatically closes, they invented a door that automatically closes while you're parked on an incline. Wrestling with a door that wants to shut itself while you're getting out is a lot more tiresome than a little extra force on the hatchback in my opinion

Nah... Wings on cars is the adult version of putting cards in your bicycle spokes.

You need to give it a little shove to close the hatch, mine needs to anyway but I don't consider that an issue. Even higher end cars like the C7 have this issue.

Rear hatch hard to close

I leave the drivers door cracked open when closing the hatch, it makes it close much easier. Learned that trick when I had my C5 Corvette :-)

Default Rear hatch press twice to open

Hello All,
When I bought my "Z", in 2009 brand new and within 3 months the hatch would not pop open on the first try and sometimes not even on the second try without my help. I lived in Florida so it not just a cold weather issue. I brought the car back to the dealer and gave me the run around. They replaced the spring lifts with the same one that the car came with and at the dealer before I drove it out it did the same thing. After doing some research I found service bulletin " Classification # BT10-004 Reference: NTB10-014 Dated 01/26/2010". Titled: "2009 370Z COUPE; REAR HATCH WILL NOT OPEN ON FIRST PUSH OF RELEASE BUTTON". I took the car back to the dealer almost a year later and told them I wanted the spring lifts replaced with the part number in the service bulletin. I have had my "Z" for 12 years and had never had the issue again and I have live in New Jersey and now in The Chicago area for the better part of 8 years with no issues. I have attached the service bulletin. The part number for the new spring lifts is 84415-1EA1E if they tell you it was superseded that's B/S. HOPE THIS HELPS
