On my drive to work today I noticed the car is not producing any power, when you step on the throttle it bairly accelerates as if it were an underpowered 3 cylinder geo. Also in neutral when you step on the throttle it revs way way slower than normal. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong, there's no check engine light or anything annunicated on the dash. Engine temp and oil temp were all normal. The only thing I can think of is the last time I got gas I could have selected 87 instead of 92 but in all honestly I've never done that and don't think I did. Any thoughts?

Hmmm, could be one of your throttle body's is not opening up properly, but that should throw a code. Maybe car is going into limp mode? Funny there's no code thrown.
Try cleaning your Maf sensors as well. I've never had this problem, but I'm sure somebody has who can steer you in the right direction. To me it sounds like it's starving itself for oxygen.

This happened to me once, 2013 nismo.. Car would barely rev above 4,000. I power cycled the car and everything went back to normal. Hasn't happened again in a year. I captured it on video if you want to compare. I was told at the dealer there's an ecu reflash pending for some 2013's, not more details available so im a bit skeptical.

I also have dropp ins. Afe

Power cycled? Is that a ecu reset? Definately a good idea to do,op.

Sounds a lot like my symptoms with barely reving above 4,000.
I'll check to see if there's something clogging the filters as soon as I can. I'm guessing a power recycle is resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery? Is there any other way to reset the ECU? I don't have any tools at work but could easily unplug the battery when I get home.

Sorry for not being clear!.. What y meant by power cycling is that I stopped on a red light, turned the car Off, then On. And the odd behavior stopped just like that; Maybe my ecu is running windows..

this is the video I took impatiently while this happened:

Just because the SES isn't lit doesn't mean there's not a pending trouble code stored in the computer. Check for that first. Resetting the ECU will remove the SES light, but whatever problem it's trying to alert you to will still be there. Buy a cheap OBD scanner. It'll tell you what's going on.

Take it immediately to your dealer and have them address it. This could be problematic in the future and you will want history on your car if it does arise again.

If you have a warranty, let the dealer figure it out. It's their job.

Did you oil your drop in filters lately?

The oil on the filters generally makes its way down the intake pipes if they have been over-oiled and can get on the MAF sensors causing issues.
Smashley likes this.

Nope, I've never cleaned/oiled them. Just straight out of the box 10,000 miles or so ago.

Just started the car up (didn't reset the eve or anything) and it ran fine. Accelerated and reved up like nothing ever happened. Seems pretty weird, guess it was a fluke or something.

Go scan for any pending codes before you make that assumption that everything's fine.

Same thing happened to me. Dealer solved it cleaning throttle bodies. Heres the thread where i talk about it if you have a chance to read it:

Z does not accelerate
