The guys at Z1 sent all I needed EXCEPT Spacers. When you install you'll need a variety of spacers to try in order to get your lash just right. I used trial and error. your stock spacers MIGHT work if you are lucky, but you probably need to try in a few different sizes. This is the main reason this is not really a DIY mod. Have an experienced shop do it (like ship your pumpkin to Z1 perhaps)
Heres a link to my diff building page to better explain the install. (I used a Quaife) Surfdog's 09 journal good luck

id like to recommend the wavetrac lsd for those looking for good performance with everyday driveability. I had a Kaaz lsd prior to the wavetrac. No more clunks at slow speeds! Difference is night and day, it operates so quietly and still will put that power down. The maintenance on them is basically install and forget. Fluid changes after 20k plus. For those with the vlsd, all you need to get is an extra axle flange. Makes my car so much more enjoyable. I think the kaaz lsd is just too agressive for street driving, the pops and clunks at slow speeds made my car sound like it was broken. And not to mention the constant fluid changes with every oil change. With that said though, the kaaz i think put that power down a little better than the wavetrac. But i'll sacrifice a little performance for driveability.
WavetracŪ Differential - A torque biasing differential with a difference for more info And i got a great deal from vividracing on this. |

What do you want your car to do if you don't track that an LSD will help you accomplish? Are you getting mods to get mods? If you're treating mods like pokemon and you just gotta have em all then by all means. But otherwise you wouldn't know it's there.
Same with final gear swap. If you hate gas mileage then go for it.

Good Thread;
11' open diff A/T,,,want to keep stock gear ratio-i just want both wheels to even power for drag/drift etc... Quaife,OS Giken,etc...? all opinion's are welcome-no roadcourse;mostly straight line & want it to be locked like a spool out of the hole. But'''' only under hard acceleration (trying not to completely throw fuel milage out the window) i know Quaife is helical gears & Giken uses conventional clutch packs... all input welcome. Ty

I have no experience with Quaife but I love my Wavetech and it is just like Quaife but better because it does lock when the wheel is free. The price, installation and maintenance are the same. I am pretty amazed at how difference in acceleration there is and on uneven surfaces you don't get the surprise step out because one wheel left the ground for .05 of a second. It definitely has increased my confidence under hard acceleration being boosted.

Some SPL or Whiteline diff bushings would be good to upgrade

You'll want to replace the bearings and seals at the same time.

Differential bushing too while you're in there. It's just a matter of time. Buy the tool for the rear mount and let us all know how well it works.
You shouldn't need to mess with the pinion unless you're doing gears too. Better not to touch it if you don't have to. Check out my install: DIY - Limited Slip Differential Install
