What is the front cooling plate?

This guy in carbon kevlar

AzSpeng 01-12-2014 01:32 PM

I wont have the stuff to make those out of carbon anytime soon. I do have the capabilities to make a 3d mold for making carbon parts though! So maybe in time (6 months or so ) we can explore making things out of carbon.

Mr&Mrs 01-12-2014 01:42 PM

Just popping in. I am down for some of these parts being mentioned. I know the car is listed for sale but I can't help buying things for her while she sits.

AzSpeng 01-12-2014 01:48 PM

I'll trade you the car for parts ;)

Sorry I wasn't clear on that part, I think it would be pretty decent in aluminum… At least it looks nice on my Terminator :)

AzSpeng 01-12-2014 01:54 PM

I can make it out of aluminum but it wont have all those 3d bends in it. My press brake is fairly small in comparison.

alphajam 01-12-2014 01:58 PM

Hmmm, that might be a problem because I believe that is where the plate meets the subframe… I'll have to check later.

theDreamer 01-13-2014 07:56 AM

On the strut bar you might be able to take some design aspects from top secret on theirs, picture for reference.

I have some ideas for the strut bad now. ill make the mount out of cnc'ed aluminum block.

Alstann 01-14-2014 12:01 PM

Strut bar would be pretty cool. If it was designed to work with the new intake plenum, or if the new intake plenum would work with the stock one, that would be tits. :D

All this progress is making me too excited.

AZ, with that reservoir, how will you check fluid levels? I'm hoping there will be a window somewhere?

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:14 PM

Next in line is the 370z oil pan. Who wants to let us borrow your car for development? in return we will give you a cnc cut oil pan that has a larger capacity and we will of course do all of the install for free.

I would estimate having your car for a week possibly 2 weeks. If you havent been to our facility yet I would encourage you to stop by anytime and take a look at whats going on!

as it stands right now, just open the lid and look. when your car gets low on fluid there are sensors in place for that, same for over heating, low oil, etc...

its no easier to check on a stock one than it is to open the lid and peek inside.

Well the stock one is plastic, and translucent, so you don't have to open the cap...

Point being, much like a dipstick and PS/Brake fluid reservoirs, it's nice to be able to just eyeball fluid levels while doing a mx check.

Not trying to hate on the part, they look really awesome, and I'd like to just have the metal caps honestly. :icon17:

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:28 PM

I have an idea for the sight glass but i dont know if it will work just yet. It will be an option to choose during checkout and might be delayed a few weeks after the initial release.

XwChriswX 01-14-2014 04:34 PM

I don't know if this would work with our cramped engine bay, but you could do something similar to this:

http://www.frsport.com/images/detail...anttank_01.jpg

As seen here for an S14: Circuit Sports Aluminum Coolant Reserve Tank CRT-S14S-GD - 240SX S14

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:39 PM

I pesonally HATE those things...they look so tacky and crap sticks in the crevices over time...its just a terrible terrible option made with super cheap components.

another problem is this...take a look at the stock tank fitted in the engine bay...where would you put a sight glass that you could easily view? the stock tick marks are on the very inside of the engine bay facing the rear of the car...hardly able to see it as it is.

I know looking at a glance would be "fun" but taking off a cap and peeking inside really shouldnt be an issue...less of an issue than checking tire pressure or checking the oil.

On this product, the threads are 33mmx3.0mm very coarse threads, approx 2.5 full turns for on/off.

XPNSD IT 01-14-2014 04:39 PM

^ Yes that would look good too if you make a matching oil catch can set. Of course use some nicer fittings.

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:41 PM

Xpnsd IT have you seen the oil catch cans in the works yet?

I completely understand your reasoning, I'm not trying to argue with you. Just trying to figure out how to make it "idiot-proof".

Just something else I came across that might interest you:

TIG Welded Aluminum Evacuation Tank Kit - Media Share - GT-R Life

Not gonna lie, I'd like an oil catch can, and a 2 in 1 would be pretty :icon23:

DEpointfive0 01-14-2014 04:45 PM

^^^Their tank is HUGE. I wouldn't want my lines to go to one central place too. Like the Arc can LOOKS cool. But functionally is not there for me

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:45 PM

the 2 in 1 would be an awesome idea except that after having a stock coolant tank in my hands thanks to DEpointfive0, and having made the cnc cut one and test fitted in the car. There would be a loss in coolant volume to make a proper size oil catch can.

While its hard for us to have products that fit with every make/model of aftermarket parts...we are trying to do just that.

Yeah, it's like trying to Monday morning QB, just trying to pitch as many ideas to you as I can find.

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:48 PM

If you want a sight glass of some sort, just delay your purchase by a few weeks, Ill have something towards the middle of feb on that topic. It will add some cost, Ill be machining some rather expensive hard clear plastic for the "sight glass".

As you can already see, im all about solving problems and coming up with some slick engineered products...What i have in mind should look pretty neat.

Just so you can see, my reservoir (early 2010 model) is different from the newer/nismo models.

Old pic of engine bay:

http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1389739869

It's a different shape/color that the others I've seen. Are you imitating this design or the other?

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 04:54 PM

shape/size is replicated off of your style tank.

Honestly I wanna hide the tank, so if I can get it flat or wrinkle black, that's ftw.

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 05:10 PM

I was thinking more milspec anodize like

http://victorynw.com/yahoo_site_admi...723812_std.jpg

more durable and wont flake or scratch off easy.

Okay, I wasn't even considering that a possibility, but yes sir. That coating would do nicely!

Although, now that the site is live... That's a bit more than I was thinking?? :ugh2:

(I understand the cost involved with metallic parts, but to be honest... it's a reservoir... :ugh2: )

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 05:17 PM

To put it into prospective, there is exactly 15 minutes in the cap and 24 minutes in the top portion plus waterjet time, press brake time, welding, anodize, laser engraving, packaging and shipping.

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 05:18 PM

If i got a group buy on here going with a minimum qty i would be interested in lower it some. Rally up the troops! I need that money!

Sounds like you need more hands in the shop...

I know someone good with their hands... :stirthepot:

AzSpeng 01-14-2014 05:22 PM

Overhead here is low, just rent, utils, payroll... id love to give stuff away but the reality is I have very expensive machinery (with a brand new $130,000 waterjet on the way) that need to making real money.

I have the capacity to push out a TON of product, just need to get the product established!!

I can always use more hands in the shop ;) move back to az..you know you miss this hot *** weather!
