Cant start my 370z no power or ignition is in lock mode. Help?

hello ive read multiply posts and thread on this site. im having problems with my 370z cant crank it or start it..theres no power or ignition..the key remote works by unlocking and locking the car nothing else the system doesnt detect the key or read the key. its show my a key signal on the instrument cluster thats about it..im thinking it could be the steering lock unit due to all the 2009-2010 even early 2011 had the some steering lock unit installed.. i order the part should get it this Wednesday..and will try to see if it fixes the problem.. Question about the install do i have to take the current steering lock unit out and replace it or i can just unplug that cable or wire to the new one would that fix the problem. or it needs to be replaced totally like taking off screws complete remove the current steering lock unit and install the new one.. please let me know if anyone knows more about how this steering lock works or had problems similar problems with thier 370z... thank you
