This is not set in stone as I do it all by sound and feel, but 1000 and 1500rpm's less/more is where your rpm's need to be for an up/down shift. This is just a memory so please experiment.

I was confused by the initial statement AT/MT. Thanks for clarifying.

When shifting into second try Holding the clutch a little longer than usual so if you usually have split second to one second on regular shifts from 1-2nd gear try holding for 2 seconds a little longer than usual then let off as you give it gas.

I had the same problem and this fixed it for me.

Inseighn, You're new to a manual and shifting at pretty high RPM's for a new guy, don't expect it to be smooth. Practice shifting at lower RPM's and work your way up (your car may appreciate this as well). Also leave SRM on, SRM does help on upshifts as well as down shifts.

The best way to practice is to let your girl sit in the passenger seat next to you. Trust me girls are sensitive. If she screams, complains or pukes then you are doing something wrong.

Good luck with practice OP.
