Have you always brought your car to a dealer for service? You can ask them for some goodwill warranty for the transmission. Maybe they can help you cut the bill in half or something. You are only 5K out of the powertrain warranty. Just a thought.

Dude just buy a new 88 OS Giken transmission and drop it in, i know i would if myne went. And if u could just unbolt about 15 screws and install it ur self u can save 1k wich is a hella $ to swap trannies if u ask me $400 tops i would give for 30 min job 2 guys.
