In comparison to HR 350z Dynos

Compared to the rating HR 350z's put out decent power to the wheels Why am I not seeing good numbers vs the rating on the 370zs? Still seeing 265-280 range

Why am I not seeing good numbers vs the rating on the 370zs?

Still seeing 265-280 range with an increase of almost 30 hp on the rating, but the whp stayed the same?

Could be wrong, but most of the Dyno results I've seen haven't been impressive.

Buying a Z soon and not sure if I should pay a lot more for a 370 or just get a 350 with minor mods and pull 370s

well there is quite a lot of difference between the two but i just googled 350z hr dyno and it brought me to my350 and after reading 10 or 12 guys post up their stock power locks like the HR puts down 245-260 stock. But thats not the only reason to want to get a 370 over the 350, It's much stiffer, there isn't an annoying *** bar running through the middle of the trunk, it's lighter, the interior is MUCH better, it takes less work to fit bigger wheels and tires, and theres a lot more.

I owned a 350 and went to the 370 with no regrets. I ran a 13.3 bone stock quarter mile with the 7AT. I dont think the 350Z's can do that.

That's why I'm considering an automatic 370.

stock nissan 350z hr dyno baseline - YouTube

2007 Nissan 350z Dyno Stock VQ35HR - YouTube

2008 Nissan 350Z Dyno STOCK - YouTube

Danny's 2008 Nissan 350Z dyno run - YouTube

just a few off the first 2 pages of youtube. all putting down 265+

theres really none i can find that say 'bone stock' and say less then 265.

nissan 370z Baseline run bone stock - YouTube (253+ 12%)

2009 Stock Nissan 370z Dyno Day - YouTube ~270ish

370Z stock baseline dyno 1 - YouTube (says 294 on a dyno jet)

i guess now that i look into it they put down about 20+ or so more whp....

but youtube videos are kind of all over the place when it actually comes down to the details.

Of course though the 370 is much nicer in a lot of ways

Welcome to the world of dynos, each one will read different, plus once you factor in altitude, temperature, etc you will be all over the place. Really a dyno is a tuning tool, not a measurement of power or performance.

On to your initial question, does the 370 put down more power? Yes, a bit more, but at the same time it also loses a little low end TQ that the 350z era had so it lost a little of that low end pull.

Real comparisons can be made on the street/track, imho.

Lets just say I've never had an issue mopping up any N/A bolt-on/tuned 350z down the track or elsewhere. And I've only got exhaust work for bolt-ons.

In my 3 years of drag racing in the north east, I've never ran into a 370 that broke 13 seconds. Not even at an only Nissan meet. I've seen a couple of quick 370's in Florida.

What is your car's avg. drag time? The 350's you beat, were they DE's or HR's?

Mopping up 350's If they were DE's, it's like beating an Altima.

Your times????

First night ever with my Z at the track, I clipped a mid 13 second run, bone stock. When I get home later, I'll post my time slips, I save all of them. My buddy tranceformer has crazy good times under his belt. I would say a low 13 or even 13 flat is doable with a skilled driver with lots of seat time. Check out the drag times thread on the forum.

And the 350zs were both DE and HR. HR is a much closer match, but I still did alright. For reference, I dynoed 305whp with HFC/Exhaust.

I was there when Ray & Jason did their best times. That's where & how I noticed that the 370z had more power & potentials.

Still, beside those two, I so far have not seen a SINGLE 370 in my neck of the woods break 13 seconds. We have a ton of 370's in the N. East!!! You pick the reason why.

"I clipped a mid 13 second run, bone stock". That's excellent, but you still couldn't touch 12.9 to low 13's HR 350's w bolt ons. that I ran across on the track

You have more to work with than they did, so let's see some mid 12's from you, then brag how you "mopped up" all the 350z's.

FIRST time I took my 08 350z to the track was in Florida/same track. I did put on m/t street radials that were better than stock but still could not hold my car from spinning them. 2 months after getting the car, bone stock but for the tires, I did ALL my runs between 13.2 & 13.5. with my best being 13.195.

So, take it easy Got to go now!

Default redline 06 from Florida & a member here(I think)

In the spring of this year, a guy from Florida (redline 06) took a 08 350 with 129k miles on it & turned a number of 12's & a low of 12.823 & that time is posted in the 07/08 bolt on section of the my350z.com top 25 list. Not bad for a worn out engine

Since I don't know what kind of new Z is coming our way, I may get a used low mileage 2012 370 automatic. As much as I love manual trans & find it easy to produce great times with it, I'm getting to old & tired driving 3 hours each way then changing all four tires/wheels twice. That adds up to 16 tire changing
I may just put M/T street radials on an automatic 370z, just drive to car to the track & do NOTHING except have coffee before drag racing.

It won't be as quick as my 350z, but if I add 2 more mods, I'll be able to do 12.7's 12.8's without a problem. It will be a better car for bracket racing than my faster 6spd. manual.

My car was such a disappointment on the dyno. Put down 256/222tq. Thats less then some of the stock HR's that I have seen.

That being said, I also ran a 13.2 in the 1/4 almost completely stock, and out run every HR that I come across.

Here is my baseline dyno for comparison (7AT):

That's ^^^^ why I'm seriously considering a 2012 370 automatic. 13.2 no wonder. No stock HR's can beat that time. Maybe even 370's can't do that.

A 350z with some mods & a good driver (because they are all manual transmissions at the track) can beat you. Like I said, there would be only a few 350's & only a few 370's. I saw in person only 2 370's in the 12's and that was long ago
