Is it really necessary to disconnect the neg battery cable. Quote "Disconnecting the negative battery cable erases pre-programmed electronic memories." All we are doing is unplugging the Mass Air Sensor.

K&N Cold Air Intake Installation Question
Is it really necessary to disconnect the neg battery cable. Quote "Disconnecting the negative battery cable erases pre-programmed electronic memories." All we are doing is unplugging the Mass Air Sensor. Is disconnecting the battery necessary, or is this CYA regarding all electrical work???
