K&N Cold Air Intake Installation Question

Is it really necessary to disconnect the neg battery cable. Quote "Disconnecting the negative battery cable erases pre-programmed electronic memories." All we are doing is unplugging the Mass Air Sensor. Is disconnecting the battery necessary, or is this CYA regarding all electrical work???
thanks

i didn't unplug the battery when i did my intake installs. hell, i dont unplug my battery when i do stereo installs either. :D

might make the work easier to remove the front strut bar, but probably not needed unless you're doing the post maf tubes.

Better safe than sorry. I wouldn't risk it.

How hard is it to disconnect it anyway? An extra 5 seconds of your time?

:icon17: risk? u serious?

i think the precaution is for someone not to accidentally start the car without the maf's plugged in. :D

oh and a few more seconds to reset the windows maybe?

Ah, forgot about the window reset thing, disregard then. Back in the day, we didn't have these kinds of window do hickeys that go up and down on their own when you opened the door.

Kenchan's right then. Just do it :icon17:

the hell you talking about. back in the day my car had a manual crank window opener thingie. :icon17:

just to impress people at the toll booths and drive-thru's for no reason, i would crank open the windows smoothly as if i had luxurious power windows. :ugh2: :wtf2:

:rofl2:

I never disconnect. The 13's don't need to reset windows but I'd still leave it plugged.

It helps the ECU learn quicker that there's more airflow

If you tune a car, you flash the ecu, dyno it, and done. In the seconds the car starts and runs it has no time to learn anything. The tune is the tune. I've never agreed with this. If I'm wrong, there has to be someone out there that's dyno'd, changed a part, dyno'd again, then left for a 50 mile drive, came back and dyno'd again I'd love to see.
