Oil level too high?

My oil level is right on the lower line of the "H". Is this dangerously high, or will I be fine? I know over filling can be just as bad

Between L and H is considered normal. You are OK. FWIW, I try to keep mine at about 75% but don't get obsessive about it.

Don't worry about it. You can overfill by a lot and still not have any issues. It isn't like our crank is turning in the oil like an old chevy 350.

Drain a little bit of it out or gun it when its cold to burn some of it off if its really worrying you.

Does it break after the hash or before and there is oil after the hash? You go off where the first break in oil is.

Either way if you're not overfilled by much you should be fine, just make sure you're not a quart too much though because you might get air I'm the system.

the level is literally right where the bottom line of the "H" is. the manual recommends between the 2 holes in the dipstick, but since the level is above that point thats why i was wondering if it's a big deal? Would the level being at the bottom line of the "H" be less than a full quart overfilled?

I wouldn't worry about it. You won't do any harm but I wouldn't recommend do this on a regular basis. I have heard older cars (pre-80s) had more issues with this.

I didn't do it myself, the shop did when they were fixing up my oil cooler leak, I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose though. Most people wouldn't even care, but I'm a bit anal if you can't tell.

Assuming that the two holes equal a quart of oil (32 fl oz), you're only talking 2-4 extra fl oz of oil. (Not sure how good that assumption is, but it should be fairly close.)

If it were a lot easier to drain a little oil from the engine, I'd say do it. As it is, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're that obsessive about it, get a piece of small tubing and a siphon bulb and suck the excess out from the dip tube.

So you're saying if there is nothing on the dip stick your only a quart low? I would think imagine it would take more than a quart low to show nothing on the dipstick...

Assuming the distance between the two holes is 1 qt and that distance on the stick vs. oil volume is linear, the bottom of the stick looks to me like it would be about 3/4 of a quart too low.

Just go ahead and suck some oil out through the dip tube and be done with it.

No there isn't any hash mark, just a L, 2 dots, and an H.

Kinda like this: L o----------o H

My level is basically right on the first line of the "H".

You're overthinking this. Remove about a half-pint of oil into a clean container. Check the stick. If you took too much out, pour some back in (aren't you glad you used a clean container?). Repeat until level is 25-75% (edit: or whatever you fell comfortable with) between the dots. Just about every hardware store sells siphon bulb pumps (think squeeze bulb on blood pressure cuffs) for ~$5. You may need to get some smaller outside diameter (OD) tubing to fit down the dip tube.
