Unhappy Juddery Clutch

Can any of you advise me as to the best course of action?

When my Z is cold its perfect to drive. However when the engine get up to normal running temperature when pulling away from a stop the clutch judders. I feel it inside the car, but it makes a rattling noise which is very audible from outside the car.

The clutch isn't noticeably slipping, but having said that pulling away from a stop and gear changes are much sharper when the engine is cold.

Any ideas anyone?

Its the nature of the car. I grew to despise it so I got an auto and never looked back lol

Its also temperamental, picking and choosing what days to shudder and when not to.

Um, no. Not all cars experience this shudder. Maybe some folks are overheating the clutch causing the shudder?

I think it is fair to say a lot are. It happens all the time under any number of driving conditions.

The shatter is becouse u cant drive, that sad change ur tranny oil to redline n wrap the exhaust pipes n clutch line near exhaust pies to eliminate oil overheating and smooth thinng out, after all of this rev to 1500rpm and let go of the clutch hold it at the engagement point for like half a sec so that engine n tranny are in sync then let go of clutch, practice its makes it perfect

It didn't get any better after switching to an aftermarket setup. It's really bad going in reverse. The whole car shakes and I can hear the clutch clapping against the flywheel. It won't hold down. Then I depress and feather back out, and it goes away (for the most part).

I've never had a performance car that didn't do this. Like DIGI said, it gets worse with an aftermarket setup, not better.

I dunno. Mine doesn't shudder/judder when I start moving from a light. It only does it if I'm purposefully moving very slow (for example: carefully re-positioning the Z so I can cram another vehicle in the driveway or garage)

Thanks guys for your input.

If so many of you hadn't indicated that you'd suffered the same symptoms, I would never has guessed this was an inherent problem

There is thread after thread of people who would attest that its just the way the Z is. Some are fortunate enough for it to not happen to them. This topic was exhausted long ago.

Exactly. I seriously doubt that people are overheating their clutches backing out of a parking space. If you think it's bad stock, switch to a lightweight flywheel and grabby clutch for a real fun time.

Get the RJM Clutch pedal, works awesome with my lightweight flywheel and ceramic disc clutch. I can make it judder if I lug it but with any throttle at all that goes away.

That can't be interpreted as most Z's ever produced have a shudder from the clutch. The clunk is most likely inherent but clutch shudder is either signs of overheating, worn parts, misalignment or whatever e.g. lack of experience or improper engagement of the clutch. My vette now has a shudder because I just installed a Center Force DFX ceramic pad clutch. CF even advises its customers that the shudder is possible after install so it was no surprise to me. I can eliminate it if I release the clutch at higher revs. Some have already stated this for the Z. Maybe folks aren't releasing their clutches at a high enough rpm? Yes, they are out there and then come here and complain. But that doesn't mean all or most Z's have a clutch problem as some would surmise.
