Unlike cable throttle cars where you press the clutch as you let off the gas and the RPMS immediately drop, ours you let off the gas, then you press the clutch about half a sec to a full sec later and your RPMs will drop normally and won't hang. Atleast that's what I learned with mine lol.

By the way, clever forum name but you've already Z'd yourself

Lol, been using that name for 15 years since I had my old Z, just kind of stuck and I figured it's still kind of relevant here...lol. Strangely enough, I haven't noticed the surging as much with the "S mode" disengaged. It still happens periodically but not every stop light as before. I didn't know that about the clutch. I really hope there is indeed something wrong with mine. I would hate to think this is how it is supposed to shift. If I was really going through the gears all the time, I could probably deal with it, but most of my driving is in town, stop and go stuff. I can't make a smooth shift at all, unless I wait about 3-4 seconds between each shift for the rpm's to come back down....and that's no fun at all (at least for me it's not).
