Default Anyone had idle issues like this??

Hey guys, new to the forum here. Just bought a 2012 Nismo, pretty much sight unseen (saw many pics but didn't drive it) and it seems to have some issues with the idle. I tried googling it but didn't seem to find the same problem I'm having. I plan on taking it to the dealership (still under factory warranty) but I wanted to see if maybe anyone else has run into this type of problem. Would love for it to be a simple fix (usually not my luck though) and save me a trip to the dealer.

Anyways, here's what's happening: every time I shift gears, the idle seems to hang at whatever RPM it's at. It doesn't drop like it's supposed to making it surge at darn near every shift. If I come to a stop and hold the clutch in, it will rev at 600-800 but it will spike a few times to 2000-5000 RPM's like I'm giving it gas, hang there for a second, then drop back down. Very annoying because every time I stop next to any car, they think I am trying to race em. The car is bone stock at the moment (from what I can tell, no intake, stock exhaust..etc..)Anyways, figured I'd throw this out there to see if anyone had any ideas. If not, it's cool. I'll take it to the dealership and post whatever they find, in case anyone else runs into this. Thanks in advance.

No ,when you put your car back to stock with Uprev you flash it with a unaltered stock ROM so that's probably not it,it is probably the gas pedal,or clutch switch, brake light switch.

Lol, I know that, but I'm betting the stock tune isn't on there and/or maybe it's corrupted or something.

This isn't a common or even uncommon 370Z problem

Since he is a new member it could be a loose nut behind the wheel.

Sorry OP

The S-MODE switch is opposite to the hazard switch in front of the shifter. On your tach, the little display above the shift indicator indicates "S" when SRM is active. SRM can help with upshifts by briefly holding the RPM. Hold the S-Mode button for the "S" to go away, and press it again to activate it.

As for revs kicking up for no reason while idling, it can be a number of factors as members mentioned. Perhaps there's a vacuum leak?

The one I issue I recall some members reporting is the engine revving up slowly on its own with no throttle input.

Thanks, didn't know that. I don't recall seeing am "S" lit up but I could have very easily missed it (still trying to figure out everything). I looked around the engine bay as well as I could but didn't see anything blaring at me, but then again, I'm no mechanic. Appreciate the advice!

Awesome. Once you can confirm the "S" is lit up above the shift indicator, try downshifting without blipping the throttle.

Also, when coasting in neutral try not to wiggle the shift lever in neutral while SRM is active.

As it is still under warranty I would just take it to the dealer and let them fix it. Have them reflash the ECU, perform all of the relearns, check for vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks etc.

If this car was modded and put back to stock it may not have been done properly. Let the dealer get is working stock so you can start modding.

Couldn't wait til tomorrow, had to take a quick drive to see...lol. The "S" was lit up so I disabled it. My RPM's dropped a "hair faster" but there is definitely another issue going on. Looks as if a trip to the dealership is in my future. This will be my first experience not having to pay their "OUTRAGEOUS" labor costs to have something fixed!! Thanks again man!!

The surge, I have no idea whats causing it but it sounds like a vacuum leak. As for the hanging RPMs at shifting, our throttle does have a slight delayed response. Unlike cable throttle cars where you press the clutch as you let off the gas and the RPMS immediately drop, ours you let off the gas, then you press the clutch about half a sec to a full sec later and your RPMs will drop normally and won't hang. Atleast that's what I learned with mine lol.

By the way, clever forum name but you've already Z'd yourself
