High rpms

Hey guys, my friends z is having some troubles. When he's on D driving, on 3rd gear it just does a high rev till like 5500-6000 and comes back down

When he's on D driving, on 3rd gear it just does a high rev till like 5500-6000 and comes back down while driving. It's a 2012 z, does anyone know what the problem might be?
