Default OS Giken Ground Touring Single Clutch Impressions?

I was wondering if anyone is running this clutch and has input on it, I've seen a lot of reviews of the twin but none yet for the single.

I don't currently have boost and I'm not running anything crazy but my stock clutch is nearing the end of its life and I'm looking for a replacement with good quality and head room for later.

I assume the Twin Disk would be a bit overkill for me, so it's between this clutch and the Southbend TZR Clutch kit with DXD Billet flywheel. Either clutch kit will be paired with the ZSpeed HD CSC.

Lol...oh yeah...and that is supposed to be Grand Touring...

Ceramic will never drive as nice as Kevlar.

We have a similar kit to the Single disk giken now at a much cheaper price.

Digitonium has it in his 370Z and really likes it. Single disk, full face ceramic sprung. Drives much better than a puck ceramic with about the same durability, Can be drag raced, street driven ect. This can also be purchased with a soft or hard cover plate depending on your power needs.

I didn't see a lot of info on the Grand Touring accept for the twin disk that everyone says is like an on and off switch.

Although I was originally looking at the Southbend but kept reading that everyone swears by Giken. Did you guys develop the HD CSC for use with the Southbend originally? My only experiences with an aftermarket clutch was with the JWT Clutch/Flywheel combo on my 350Z, although it did chatter a lot I loved the quick reving and shifting on bolt ons felt effortless for it.

I should be able to give some feed back very soon. I ordered one of these with and upgraded HD CSC from Sam. Some how my stock clutch lasted 22,000 boosted miles.

The new OS Giken Grand Touring clutches are much better than any of the older series (steel plate, aluminum plate). I had the steel cover twin plate and it was very difficult to drive. The pedal was very stiff.

However, the new Grand Touring twin plate with soft diaphragm is completely different. It is very close to the stock clutch in terms of pedal pressure and driveability. The only difference is that it holds a lot more power.

That's what I like to hear. Not sure if Sam sent me the Soft or Hard setup. Is this adjustable? I also like that this clutch is supposed to eliminate most of the chatter found in allot of other aftermarket clutches.

Unfortunately, it is not adjustable. The hard and soft setting refers to the clamp rate on the diaphragm. You would need to change the entire pressure plate to change the hardness. I personally have the soft setup, which is more stock like pedal pressure. The soft plate will hold around 500hp and hard plate will hold around 700hp.

Although the clutch engagement is hugely improved over non grand touring types, the noise is about the same. At idle, you can still hear the clutch chattering.

One more thing. Before you install the clutch, I would recommend inspecting the components to make sure they are the correct parts. OS Giken sent me the pressure plate from a single plate setup for my twin plate clutch. It caused a huge headache for me and the tranny had to be dropped 3 times.

Thats not cool. My trans is being replaced along with the new clutch and CSC. Hope they included the correct p-plate. Its supposed to be green right?

Yeah, it's green. Both the mono and twin are green. Make sure it says Twin on the pressure plate and not Mono.

Looking forward to more reviews on the Giken, I'm almost on 60k miles on the stock clutch and I can definitely feel a slip now and again. Right now I'm trying to decide between the ZSpeed TZR Clutch and the Giken, I doubt I'll be boosted soon, but both seem capable....choices..

I yet to pick my car up from Baker Tuning. I am doing a few other things. Every time I need an oil change I have to remove my bumper to get it done right lol. Wonder if I should order the OSG LSD or not, have a feeling that it will come in handy now that my stock clutch wont be slipping out of control anymore. I should have the car back next week.
