Default transmission questions

Just bought the 09 370z, I've put 500 miles on the it so far. The car makes a little noise when engaging the clutch in 1st from a stop. Its almost a slight growling noise. It doesn't chatter or anything I can just hear the clutch friction. Now I have had nothing but mustangs my whole life so maybe I'm just used to hearing exhaust over anything else, but I'm not quite sure its normal. It probably didn't help that I drove the car hard before the 1200 mile break in period either. Let me know something guys, thanks. sorry, its a 6 spd manual by the way.

sounds normal to me, mine does it, and my dads vett does the same. I forget what it is exactly.

also i noticed that it chatters slightly, kinda like when you engage at too low rpm's. nothing super loud but when the windows are up and the radio and a/c is off i can hear it. it doesnt always do it either otherwise i would take it in, but like i said i have never had a car this quiet and i'm certain it is prone to make some noise. so yeah thanks for the feedback guys, anymore would be greatly appreciated. and yeah i like this car way better than any of my previous mustang gt's, the handling is insane and it stops like you hit a brick wall. very fun car to drive.

The chatter is pretty normal. Apparently it was on the 350s too.

as i read through more and more threads the more i am beginning to be convinced that the 6 spd for the 370 is a piece of crap. any input on how long these things can last would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe I haven't been reading up on issues as much as you have, but I haven't really seen much in the way of cause for concern about the transmission. I know from experience some can be noisy. I don't know what kind of Mustangs you have experience with, but the TR3650 Tremec in my 2003 GT was fairly noisy and had some big-time clunking issues, but it was a pretty tough transmission nonetheless. Though I never had any chattering issues when pulling away from a stop.

Synchros are the issue with the 6MT.. some are getting 5k.. some 20k.. some never have a problem.

My '04 G has had 3 replacement transmissions, and there is a thread on here where guys are already having theirs replaced.

If you start grinding when going into gear, head to the dealership and begin the process of documenting things..

Not looking forward to future issues with my 6MT.

Doesn't sound good at all. In any case I've driven two and both made some clunks and other natural sounds. Those are nothing to worry about.

I was wondering what the normal oil temp should be on a hot day?

so, also sometimes second gear kinda hangs up slightly. like when i'm shifting from 1st to 2nd the shifter kinda bites. it goes into gear fine it's just not super smooth everytime, and it doesn't grind or anything, is that normal or could I be developing the synchronizer issue everyone is having? i know my 06 mustang gt did that going into second gear since the day i had bought it, i just never thought anything of it. thanks for the feedback so far guys, you've been really helpful.

Nope.. that's just the normal notchyness of the transmission.. you'll know when you have synchro issues.. it's like you forgot to use the clutch when you shift..

First couple of times you think you're the *******.. then you figure out the trans is..

so is it normal to hear a little bit of clutch chatter? i have never had a manual that chattered, exept on a dual friction clutch i had on a mustang i had and thats was expected.
