cooler block off plate ideas

Wondering if anyone has run a block off plate for the 34 row or any cooler and sizes/ideas on how big for high 30's low 40's driving temp. Any ideas

Default cooler block off plate ideas

Wondering if anyone has run a block off plate for the 34 row or any cooler and sizes/ideas on how big for high 30's low 40's driving temp. Any ideas are appreciated. I saw a gentleman on here that double sided taped his but couldn't find the thread. How effective is it doing a partial?

thats where it was hahahaha i couldn't remember who did that one. Did you make your plate big enough to cover the whole cooler? How far up approx. did you slide it up to maintain a decent oil temp?

I only made it to cover half and that has seem to work so far for where I live in the colder months. When it was hotter I would slide it down and only cover a small portion. On spirited days and the track day I just compelety removed it when I was ready to throw down.

i used that tape to mount my amp inside the car. texas heat plus hot amp and the adhesive melted off. will the oi coolers get hot enough to melt the adhesive off?

I have had no real problems. But if you try to pull the plate off when it's hot and being the industrial Velcro grips so well it could possible pull the adhesive off.

i was trying to think of a way to run it from the top of the radiator air shroud and drill some holes in the plate. Also utilize a couple of those fancy body clips from nissan to hold it in place from top. Just an idea i am messin around with but not too sure. It was 50 tonight and with my thermo adapter i was running 160. I definitely need to get the temp up

what is the coldest you have driven your z in and what was the temp. Im goin to do the install this weekend but was wondering when i install the plate how big i should make the holes. The lowest I will be seeing in low 40's but right now it is in the 70's. I was thinking about 3/8 holes. 1''x1'' on the plate. I still want a little air flow goin through the cooler during the daytime but enough to keep it warm at night.

So my idea has worked good so far with the help of spohn's writeup and my idea. I did a full blockoff plate and did 1/4 in holes in a 1''x1'' pattern. I might need to widen the holes a bit but with ambient temp at 86 im running just under 200. Anyone else run a plate similar to this?

will take some this weekend. I noticed that the pressure side is leaking on my cooler. When you did the install did you use any pipe sealant for the cooler side of the male fitting? I know its a tapered fit on the an-10 but what about the male nipple to the female cooler part? It weeps just a little and I set up the hoses so it would "tighten" as far as the angle. Kinda scratching my head. Not sure if it is residue from when I checked and moved it around the other day.

I did put thread sealant on all my threads. I feel that's a must. Never had a leak there (male to female part). At one time I had a leak where the line goes into the fitting. Even though it was pretty tight to begin with I had to tighten it more. I ended up turning it 3/4 of a turn. That stop that for sure.
