depends on what sort of FI system you are looking at.

For the most part, 4.08s are more than fine with any FI application on the Z.

with an SC, the lack of low end torque (compared to TT) would probably be ok with 4.08's. I think you would find 370+tq with 4.08's to be a handful with traction and running out of gear too quickly.

That will be my set up 4.08 and a stage 2 GTM SC>
At the trackwith the MT 305 35 18 drag radials at 15 lbs of air should be no problems.

Doesn't the TT have the lack of low end torque albeit higher overall numbers? Running out of gearing is the issue I would have. I don't want to turn the Z into a one dimensional 1/4 mile warrior.

It depends on what you define as low end I suppose, the point is TT torque comes on like a rocket, a sudden surge in torque, the SC is linear. Here is the dyno for 10psi on the 28rs .64. 3000-3500 rpm is quite a ride.

I can't imagine the traction problems with twin turbos and 4.08 gears. I've already seen what happens with (good) street tires + twin turbos. It goes something like this:

1st gear = useless
2nd gear = sorta useless
3rd gear = traction but you're already doing 60+ mph in a 6MT 370Z

You limit your car to a quarter mile monster. Granted it will be a monster but I don't care for those limits.

I always thought that a s/c built much more low end torque (idle) than a turbo which has to spool up to make power. You can size them to what every you want. If you got tiurbos small enough to spool up off idle than it would sufficate the top end.

This is why it think there should be an option for even smaller turbo's. To assist the low end tq issues, plus I could see more road racers wanting this since there will be less tq snap @ the 3500 rpm spot making the car more drivable through the corners. twin gt28 are hugh turbo's. My gf's gti makes what it seems like full boost @ like 1800rpm huge low end tq but the trade off it a bit weak @ 7500 rpm. You street drive, where do you drive more in the rpm band 7500 or 1800? but horsepower sells parts...

As for the gears plus boost. on a S/C it would be great!! For the turbo its going to spin alot, but it will spin and accelerate due to having less rpm of the actual rim/tire.

Not really. Gearing is much more favorable to a road course. 4.08s are arguably tougher on the strip than anywhere else.
