A whole new engine or just a short block.

Awesome! It will probably be more than 2 weeks anyways. Are they going to put your mods back on your new motor? So you should get a all new warrenty with the new motor? Or does it work that way?

I hope it's a new one. I'd hate to have just a new short block when the other blew up. It had to cause some damage to the heads. It's one thing if it was only oil consumption and the motor didn't let go.

Very true, but you need to check every week for the first 10k miles on any car you buy. It's up to you to determine the oil usage baseline.

Oil pressure would not indicate low oil level. A Corolla will run forever with no oil maintenance but you can't expect a 332hp sports car to do the same thing.

If I could find a $20 hooker my life would be much better!

Oil pressure gauge will indicate low oil. No oil no pressure.
Years ago my dad had a '64 Mercedes that was drinking oil (1qt/50 miles). I didn't know this and was driving around one evening and everytime I would accelerate, the gauge would drop to nothing. I put two quarts in and still didn't show anything on the dipstick. :icon14:

when my motor went(no oil consumption noticed here at any time) it took over a month nissan f'n blows with backorders.

Fantastic news. Congratulations! 2 weeks seem a small issue vs no car at all. Glad to hear they were reasonable.

I know the feeling bro. I blew almost half the block and half of the tranny bell houseing off mine. All over an 2 injectors being double o-ringed on the closest two cylinders to the firewall. Caused oil to not reach the cylinders well. 9 lbs of boost didnt help either. Nissan warrentied everything thank god.

Yeah i know Nissan are slow with back orders at lease its early in the season ill be able to enjoy the summer.

90 ST 05-13-2011 11:42 AM

Wow, Glad everything is going to work out for you.

wilsonp 05-13-2011 04:22 PM

I was going to say maybe their plan to use engines from Tennessee would help you, but it doesn't appear to make our engine. OTOH, the Japan Nissan plant is operational again, but won't be in full production until June.

gr8-wrx 05-13-2011 10:51 PM

Cool, sounds like things will be ok.

Westwood 05-14-2011 10:12 AM

yeah everything should be ok and hoping i get my baby back in June!

TeamMancusoSW 05-29-2011 09:30 AM

Hey Westwood, did you get your car back yet? I blew my motor last night. Same thing as yours I'm sure. My car was consuming oil also so I'm not surprised it let go. Just hope my claim goes smooth, I get a long block, and my tech knows what he is doing.

red6spd 05-29-2011 09:51 AM

Good to hear everything worked out. I check my oil everytime I drive it (once or twice a week) So far I only had to add a squirt of oil hear and there but the worry of low oil is always on my mind, I think an Oil Pressure gauge will be in my future just for added peice of mind.
