All I can tell you is that there is very little side to side play with the spring removed. His concern was that it might be possible to put extra stress on the master cylinder because this spring is no longer there. While it's good to be aware of possible issues, no one in the G community has reported any kind of failures related to this mod so at this point its just speculation.
If you are still debating the possible ramifications don't do this mod, the clutch clearly doesn't bother you enough to make it worth it
