Which? The idle noise the OP was referring to (if in neutral, depress/release clutch) or what I was talking about, engaging 1st or 2nd from stop?

Yeah, your car will keep happily making that noise for many miles to come.

LOL. I have just iver 27k now and it still sounds like that. Sometimes it is not really noticable, but I get a little paranoid and start listening for it and it is still there. So I know the car is still good, lol. If your Z is quite, something is wrong or you took some steps to make it that way.

To be clear, are you referring to the OP's original claim of idle noise, or my reference to engaing 1st/2nd from stop? Or maybe BOTH?

The OP.

Your noise (marbles rolling around when almost killing the engine from a stop) *might* be knock, but I'm not sure. There is also that "clunk" when going from 1st to 2nd at low RPM, maybe you are reproducing that same noise by trying to get the car rolling without enough RPM.

It is possible that it is knock, but doubtful. The tranny makes some ill noises, but still normal. It just doesn't like to be quick shifted, but you will have greater success once you become one with the machine, lol.

Get a solid flyeheel and slightly heavier transmission fluid. Most of the noise will go away.

Your idle noises sound normal. My camaro was alot louder (6mt too). I think someone once said it was a noise form the throw out bearing.

The noise at the end does not sound right - when you shut off the car. Mine has no such clunk.

Your car sounds identical to mine, literally. I'm just over 8k miles. My car has always sounded like this.
