It sounds like US-made aftermarket gauges all use NPT fittings while most European and Japanese cars favor BSP threads for their sensors. My best guess is the HKS gauge is NPT and will require the same setup I listed above. To be safe and knock this project out in one attempt, I ordered all the fittings in BSP and NPT versions. So I'm covered regardless of what I find when I disconnect the factory sensor. It only cost me $10 instead of $5 to get the fittings in both thread types.

While I wait on the parts to arrive, I need to decide on which 12V switched source to splice the gauge power into. I'll check and post in the AV section, but ideas are welcome. If I install the gauge on the side of the steering column, I think I'll run the power under the knee bolster and tap into the 12V cigarette lighter in the armrest. If I decide to mount the gauge up on the dash (behind and between the 3-pod gauges), I'll tap into the other 12V lighter in the passenger footwell. Both are ignition switched I believe.
