I just changed my oil at 2k miles from the OE to AMSoil 0w-30 SSO and the engine runs noticeably smoother than before... my Fiancee as well as my roomate also commented the same thing. I changed the oil in her MS3 to the same and her engine is MUCH smoother and the mileage is already much better on this tank. AMSoil is all I have used in my last 4 cars though so I am biased... it's just better oil IMO.

Hey everyone,

Im doing my second oild change at the dealership, and Im taking my own oil since Im pretty sure they used regular cheap oil on the first oil change (the oil temperatures, right off the oil change, were about 10°F higher, for starters). Currently there are some specials on PepBoys on Penzoil Ultra Premium Synthetic Oil. Anyone know if this oil is good? Or should I keep looking for the much talked about Mobil One (I havent seen it in stores here in PR)?

Thanks in advance!

My car has about 9K miles on it. Is it okay to use Mobil One Synthetic Oil 5w 30 and mobil One Filter? Should i take it to nissan dealer ship to change it and bring my own oil?

schock you can do it yourself, i've got 20k and no problems yet. Just keep your receipts and date them with mileage so that if there is any warranty problems they can look at that for verification.

Is it possible to use 5w20 in the motor? Why would we use such a thick oil on a roller motor?

Because of the high bearing temps.

That's how they get you! Selling in boxes of 12 so you need to keep buying their brand

And actually, if you read between the lines in the Service Manual, probably the most-ideal oil weight for this engine is 10w30. In the "For North America" section they claim 5w30 is the only option, but in the "Outside North America" section they say, exactly:

Quote:
10W-30 is preferable.
5W-30 is also preferable and will improve fuel economy. If 10W-30 or 5W-30 is not available, select the viscosity, from the chart, that is suitable for the outside temperature range.
Probably the reason for the difference is US standards on fuel economy and/or emissions. Either way the difference between 5w30 and 10w30 isn't much.
