I now just run M1 to about 5K and have had no problems, I as a general rule would never run to your intervals OP.
What year, make, and model was that, that slugged?
7,500 is the limit for Synthetic oil, the OP is fine!

I use the M1 filter as well, Pep Boys had a killer deal combining both 5qts of M1 and thr filter for $30.

Walmart has the 5qt jug for $27

The RP was in my 2004 350z with about 70K miles at the time. I have run RP for about 40K miles and had no issues prior. I pushed the interval to 6K and the master tech who inspected my Z said it looked horrible.

But I had a discussion with one of my friends today, and they swear up and down that in the long term, Royal Purple will ultimately mess up your internals. My two friends are driving a Civic Si(K20) and a TSX(K20).

So the question is? is this true. If so? do you guys recommend switching to Mobile 1. With A Mobile Filter
Your friend doesn't know what the hell he's talking about....hope that helps!

Might not be the oil your using... I recommend using oil 5k and no more. Sometime I would use the gold extended performance M1 and still change it at 5k or may be 6k but if regular M1 5k would be the limit.

What about Rotella T Synthetic? I used to run that in all my cars when I found out about it. The price is decent (Walmart) and its mainly designed to be cleaner for use in Diesel trucks. Lots of tq and boost out of those engines...

I have not used it in years, for no good reason though.

Rotella seems to be just about universally accepted as a high grade oil, my concern with using it in a car is how thick it is. Especially in the Z which for a special super thin oil.

That said I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything, just stick with it if you make the change.

Rotella is good indeed... but I think I remember now why I stopped using it - because there are not too many viscosities available. I think the thinnest Rotella gets is 5w40 which is likely no good for our cold cars. Perhaps in Florida it would be fine.

I've always used Mobil1 and a there filters. I believe Mobil is the oldest oil company out there. But Nissan oil filters are great also. I use Motul when if was FI on my 350.
