Everyone with oil temp issues

Only thing we can do at this point is create as much awareness as possible. Nissan won't do squat until they know that it's affecting their sales.

I own a G37 and my car went into limp mode while doing a canyon run out here on Palomar at midnite. Lots of people have had oil heating issues with the G37 so far, and I witnessed it firsthand. I was hoping Nissan would've addressed this for you 370Z guys since they've known about the problem.

But yeah, Limp mode FTL. Redline drops to about 6,200, throttle is reduced to about 40% no matter if you have it floored.

Since then, I've changed to Eneos 5W30 and haven't had that problem come up since, and I've done the same canyon run twice now.

^^do you have a temp gauge? maybe one of the z guys should try that oil and see what the temps go up to...

No no temp gauge bro. I'm doin another canyon run this weekend and I'll letchu guys know the outcome.

But yeah when your car goes into limp mode, its a total "WTF?" moment.

I think he misunderstood my original post. What I meant was, compared to the oil consumption issue the '06s faced, this issue can be fixed, versus an ongoing issue, like the OC issue. Probably semantics over the definition and use of the work "permanent", no big deal.

Maybe they're just relying on the fact that 90% of people are just going to cruise around town with them and never run into this issue. They at least should have made it a factory option or part of the sport package. Seems counter-intuitive that they install performance brakes and a LSD yet don't expect you to actually drive it hard.

It's been over a week, Nissan has no answers, they are clueless to even if they have the parts anywhere, even with me willing to pay they still can't come up with it. As if the Nismo 370Z thats already out in Japan doesn't have one!? Right....

I can't let some stupid $400 dollar part eat me up and the more I talk to Nissan the more I dislike them. So, I called up Stillen, ordered their Oil Cooler, Exhaust, Gen 3 Intake. It will be better quality then factory anyway....
I'm looking forward to getting my parts on and enjoying the hell out of my Z...

I checked with my dealership abut the oil cooler issue and they were not aware of one (from Nissan) being available yet. I was told that if I bought a quality after market oil cooler and had them install it they would consider it like "original equipment".

I bet Nissan will offer one soon (< 6 months) to the dealerships (IMO)

I mentioned this to the service manager at the dealership I bought mine from yesterday. He suggested trying a different coolant ratio. Although, he couldn't offer any advice about what ratio would be more effective.

Distilled water is the best possible heat conductor (liquid). Just enough anti-corrosive anti-freeze needs to be added (Ethylene Glycol). In a relatively warm climate like So Cal or TX I would go for 80% pure distilled water, 20% Glycol. The standard up here in the cold parts is 50/50.
