Yes, you should change it. Failure often happens because people don't change it. 30k miles.
When there is a fluid and filter involved, there is need for changing. Oil, transmission fluid etc.

How often should the automatic transmission fluid... — Yahoo! Autos

Nissan has a Service and Maintenance guide, and you can download the PDF from here.

It states the 370Z automatic fluid is maintenance free, and even the Premium Maintenance schedule inspections and replacements are not recommended for the 370Z.

The Schedule 1 (city driving) schedule doesn't recommend fluid replacement either unless towing, but does recommend inspection again except for the 370Z.

Nissan really means the 370Z auto is maintenance free.

What about the diff. fluid? Is that maintenance free as well? If not, what is the replacement schedule?

SMG Sched 1/2 says inspect every 15000 miles replace every 30k if driving on muddy/rough roads or towing.

Premium Schedule says inspect every 3750 miles () replace every 15k miles.

yeah but the premium schedule is made for people who can't seem to give the dealer or their mechanic enough money. rear diffs are more along the lines of 30,000 inspect 60,000 replace, unless you race or beat on it thoroughly

I would not recommend ignoring the auto transmission. Many manufacturers have the "maintenance free" transmissions for a few years now, and you will see more harm than good from observing the "maintenance free" guide. I have seen plenty of transmission failures over the years, and most were transmissions that were not serviced properly. On top of that you're in sports cars, sure the regular grind and stop and go traffic sucks, but most of you probably drive like Z owners from time to time (if not all the time). Driving more sporting or in manual mode will obviously cause more wear.

If you plan on keeping your Z for years and years, I would certainly recommend servicing your transmission. I am sure the added maintenance cost will be a small price to pay for the extended service life of your Z's transmission.

Before I get blasted, I am aware of the manual and what it says. I love nissan, but I am also aware that they are in the business of selling cars. A transmission failure on a high mileage car is another reason to get a new car. I'm not saying they build it for failure, but no maintenance, c'mon. I'm sure most of them will make it out of warranty.

Anyone check the price on a 7AT lately?

Yes they cost around $9000.00 here in Toronto Canada
7600.00 US.
Tranney fluid is 11.50 / L = 120.00
I changed my torque converter and it is difficult to fill it up. It require's a check after you have drive it.
