Default Cold starts : engine / exhaust sound

How does everyone else's 370 sound on the first cold start? Mine sounds extremely loud, like an amplified V8 hollow rumble - more from the front of the car rather than the rear muffler. Lasts for about 15 - 20secs then as the revs drop it's extremely quiet. Is that normal or consistent with other 370's?

Mine does the same thing. I think it just takes her a minute to wake up and get going.
Actually I think it has more to do with the ecu getting adjusted when she first starts.

It's very normal. On a cold start the ECU is programmed for a high-idle to get fluids pumping and the engine warmed up. Enjoy it.

Yeah cold starts are unusually loud on this car, nothing to worry about.

I love cold starts on this car; I wish it sounded like that all the time, really deep and burly.

Ok cool, sounds like most people are on the same boat - must be normal then. Thought it might have been loose flanges or leaking gaskets at first.

. Mine does the same thing - sounds like an exhaust leak near the rear of the engine (I haven't been able to pinpoint exact location, so that may be way off) until fast idle starts backing down.
. OK. I'll believe that it's normal, but what causes it? Is there a simple and easy way to make it quieter?

When I had the Berk HFC with the TDX 12", it was like waking up an angry bear every morning and after work. It rattles the garage door, window, and loose objects.
