Default Mechanic couldn't help... Can you?

Dear members,

I have the following issue:

When I put the car in neutral, after it is warmed up and hold the clutch all the way down, I can hear this intermittent clicking sound and a gentle tapping on the clutch. I am pretty sure the sound was not there before. I took her to the mechanic, he shrug and said "I donno...". Great! He said he will call Nissan on Monday and ask.

Can one of you fine people, try this on your car?

Thanks!

I get that too. Not trying to be funny, but I call it "foot massage.". It comes and goes.

Throw out bearing.

Let us know what the dealer says.

I'll let you know.

I don't mind the massage, but I fear it did not use to be there, that is what concerns me.

I love my Z. I just wished the tranny was a lot linear.

One day, hopefully, someone will come out with a better clutch/disk/throwout bearing/pressure Plate package to mask this issue.

OP, can you hear it? Or feel it? Or both? In my case, the throw out bearing gets noisy sometimes. If it is not noisy, I can feel the ticking/pulsation when I have the clutch in. Note that 70% of the time, it is normal......just intermittent!

Your mechanic doesn't know what a noisy TOB sounds like? lol

I think everybody else here is right - it's just noise from the throw out bearing. It may or may not indicate a real problem. I'm not too familiar with the fully hydraulic "push style" TOB system that the Z has, so I can't say for sure.

Mechanics.... uhg. Sounds like you took it to a random shop. Seriously, find a really good Nissan certified Diagnostic Technician or a really good shop that specializes in Nissans. Never take your car to a "mechanic".

The noise of my throw out bearing on my 350Z used to be worth. I noticed a little bit on the 370Z.

Can you call that guy a mechanic?

This is the mechanic at my dealership where I bought the car!! He seemed very disinterested to fix the car, he just shrugged his shoulders and treated me as if I were an idiot. When I was leaving, I said okay well I will call you on Monday to see what you hear from Nissan and he was standing around some of the salesmen at the time and he laughed and said he won't be there on Monday.

Anyhow, I will follow up and let you guys know, thanks for your advice.

For the record, this is my first time to make this recommendation ----- go someplace else quickly. I do not think it will be healthy for you and your car to remain with that dealership.

This I would have quickly brought up with the Service Manager and GM. One thing saying you won't be there (did he offer an interim person to fill in for him?), but laughing? That strikes as "don't give a $hit" - something that I latch on to pretty instantly.

Unfortunatly, Nissan has the worst sounding tranny of all time I think. This thing is going to make all kinds of noises and for the most part are "normal". Bring the car to the dealer just to have it on record for future references. If any mechanic laughs make sure you call him on it. In front of other people would be a good idea.

OP make sure you call the dealership on monday, even if you know he won't be there. Then you can mention to the service manager how you felt when he laughed at you / made you feel by asking about the problem.
