38 for an oil change with oil and filters and labor? where....? that's pretty damn cheap

 Your second dealer ($38 dollar one) put regular oil in the car. No Ester.  If I were to get my oil changed from dealer, I'd probably stick with cheap $29 oil change too. Ester is only recommended NOT required. Also, the car is under warranty. So, things go wrong, dealer will fix it by law regardless of the oil since they did the change.
