Love my auto w/paddle shifters. I am also 48 and don't drive like im 25.

This. I think the manual tranny on the Z is garbage. Chatters, whines, throwout bearing roar, rubbery shifts, etc. I come from an s2k too and that thing was nirvana. There is a difference between the tranny being loud and shaky in a good way and loud and shaky in a bad way, and the z's manual is the latter. The auto however is excellent.

be funny if a z was outfitted with a 18sp tranny. im in frikken 8th gear and im still going 40mph... another 10 to go...

I drove my buddies 350 manual and it was fun. I love my AT 370 cuz I get lazy sometimes and the paddles are more than enough when I want to shift myself and hit some high rpms. To each their own. This is America damnit! We're free to pick any transmission we want!
