I spoke to the dealer and the document he was reading wasn't for the 370z. He asked that I bring it in for them to look at it. My problem may be different from others here. It does happen when releasing the clutch but it doesn't matter what gear you are in. Even when I'm stopped and push the pedal in and release it I hear the pop. I am out of town next week so it will be the week after next before I can update everyone.

My clutch has occasionally done the exact same thing. I had researched this and some other "Z" owners have commented on this on the web. My "click" happens only rarely and it happens when you release the pedal near the top of its travel. It does not matter it the car is running or not. If the car sits for several days it dissapears. This leads me to believe it is related to hydraulics in the clutch system.

I have felt and heard this noise from my z also. I think It's safe to say that it is not a problem. We can't all have faulty transmissions.

When the passenger asks what the noise is while you're shifting, it's a problem. I don't think this is a transmission problem. I tend to agree with fisherg, it feels like the hydraulics. I am considering leaving the car with the dealer next week while I am out of town. I just hope the car is in one piece when I pick it up on Friday.

I have the same clicking/knocking noise when I release the clutch. I took mine to the dealership to get it checked out and also the rattle in the hatch area. Unfortunately, it's the weekend so there's no technicians till Monday. I will post as soon as I find out anything. Apparetly a lot of the 2010 Z's are having the clicking issue but then again it's a salesman who said it.

It's not as bad as we make it seem. It just feels like something is off slightly, not like our clutch pedal is going to blow up.

All I've noticed is an occasional rhythmic 'bobbing' of the clutch pedal. It probably moves less than 1/16" but you can feel it when you put your foot on the clutch. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Either way, my clutch is working just fine so who cares?

I got the Z back today. The rattle from the hatch area is actually a broken clip. The clutch pedal has to be replaced. They ordered the part and will notify me when it comes it. My Z is the first one to have the clutch pedal being replaced. It's still safe to drive. If u guys are having the same issue, I suggest to bring it in so it can be replaced under warranty.

if the sound you are talking about the clutch clunk that most get and say is normal ? or was this something different you were getting?

do you get any clunk sounds now when going form 1st to 2nd at low rpm's?

Thanks,
Jay

It's the clunking sound that the OP is having. A clunking/knocking noise on the clutch release. It does it everytime I release the clutch on all gear shifts. The rattle on the hatch area is still there but it's not as loud as before. Hope that explanation makes sense as that's the only way I can describe it.

Oh okay. Well, the service dept. already ordered my clutch pedal assembly. Might as well get it replaced. I'll update on how it goes and if I still get the clunk/knock noise on the clutch. If it's gone, great. If not, atleast I know it's a normal characteristic of the clutch since this is my first rwd car and first Nissan. (coming from a Honda civic Si sedan)
