Ok did i miss something here? Why is there guys bitching about not having maps? Why would you want a canned tune in the first place, all cars are different so that tune may not be what your car wants. Why not just get the AP and go to a local dyno that does tuning and get your car dyno tuned?

Not everyone has access to a dyno. Canned maps are a decent option for those in such a situation.

I'd be up for a canned map without the vvel tuning for now.
front camber arms better than the ones currently available (preferably aluminum). I guess that's not under the hood though..... |

I'd like to see Cobb offer insulated sleeves to cover the Cobb intake tubes and the air path back to the radiator support. It would be even better if the insulated sleeves had an internal air gap to allow fresh air to enter at the front and exit near the throttle bodies to prevent heating of the intake air.

Just felt like bumping this thread to voice my frustration in Cobb not even supporting the 2010 Z at all yet. It turns out that the 1EA4B ECU that many of us have gotten to fix the high pitch whine issue is in fact from the 2010 model, so the AP doesn't support it.
How does it take 6+ months to support a model that is virtually identical to the previous years model???? They really don't seem to have their act together. I'm not even going to mention the whole issue with not having pre-canned maps directly from Cobb. Oh wait, I did. :( |
Not to sound completley uninformed, but what exactly will be accomplished by cracking vvel?!? Does it produce more power or what.

well cracking the vvel might let you open the cams up farther and for longer durations than they do stock in the lower/mid range area to try and pick up some more hp in that range, also since they effectively act as the throttle for the engine some response could be gained. if there is a combined way to operate the vvel and adjust the opening and closing of the ETB's to effectively eliminate them staying open all the time, it would become possible to put a twin screw on the car without seizing the compressor, snapping belts, or blowing the manifold to pieces. a tune that would make the throttle bodies operate in a normal fashion would be awesome for those seeking real low end torque and power. the power gains all depend on the stock vvel curve/maps, if the stock maps turn out to be detuned enough there could be a considerable horsepower gain similar to camming the car. also it may be essential for magic screw adjustment which would yield much larger numbers. If that is the case when the vvel gets cracked they could probably sell the accesport for mines or topsecret ecu flash prices and still have it be the 3rd most desirable power adder (after intake and exhaust) short of forced induction. If the CVTC can be modified as well there would be gains in it for the forced induction guys by retarding the cam timing to reduce valve overlap
