High Oil Temp = power + throttle response loss?

If you were at the top of X gear and then floored it, do you think you experienced your VDC kicking in without knowing it?

yeah, i've raced quite a few SI's and S2K's at the track, and usually have them both by over a second, sounds like something might be wrong with your car man.

Yeah. I had to use the bathroom so I decided to stop at this hotel which was close to use a bathroom. I decided to go to room 208 and there was this naked lady in there who was not my wife but I decided to use the bathroom only. But when I came out she attacked me really bad and some how got my pants undone and her mouth on me. My wife's not going to be mad right?
Later on she said your the best and said my name and gave me a thumbs up? I am so furious I got caught up in this!

Several posts later some one says..
“Maybe she was some freaky person and that's her thing and shes not stock”
my response:
Well I kind of know her and shes not freaky so I really cant understand why she did it. And she is stock.

The end. (this story is just fictitious on my part for the enjoyment of the thread)

Couple things:

1) Are you sure you weren't spinning your tires? If I suddenly floor it in 2nd, my tires light up.

2) What were your temps before trying to pass these guys? Your car's oil temp will NOT jump from 220 to 260 with a single aggressive acceleration. It takes some persistent, aggressive driving to get to 260.

to the OP (for what its worth).
I notes a little difference with the power delivery of my car when i have VDC off, and the Sync rev on. VS VDC on and Sync rev off.

lol kannibal. anyway you guys r missing the point. I was asking what the performance decrease is on the Z when oil temps r that high. no one has answered and I dont think anyone knows. I have recorded a few videos and I will show you there is something wrong with my Z. Today on the way to work I was in 5th gear at roughly 50-65 mph the entire time and the temp stayed at 210 degrees. later once I can get a chance I will get a video showing how fast it will go from 200-260. its really wierd

higher temps = lowered RPM limiter. 260F is first threshold, I think 280 is the next threshold.

Read the manual...it spells it out for you.

Not only that, but I'm sure the ECU is probably pulling timing as well at those temps, which would most definitely make the car feel much more sluggish.

That's probably the #1 reason. Higher IAT's = less timing advance

besides the oil temp getting hot, you have to remember the engine is getting hot too and causing heat soak resulting in power loss. So if your temps were already up there then the engine temps were probably too. Are engines run really hot and probably heat soak more than other cars like 4 bangers.

jesus. heres what happened. I (me) driving around on back roads above the speed limit. yes i stated above the speed limit. i came upon 2 cars, one was tail gating the other. the speed limit is 45 mph and they were doing approximately 30. i passed them once it was LEGAL to pass them. when I was about to pass the S2K he gunned it. Since I had WOT I figured Id humor him but it didnt turn out that way. Then like 1 mile later the last part of the back road ends in an uphill straight. the civic was right behind me and I wanted to see if my Z would get away from it, it didnt. Thats what happened. the civic wasnt a race, i was already infront him him.

Furthermore, when I get pulled over for speeding, if and when the cop runs my plates he hands me back my info once he receives the information and tells me to slow down, no ticket, no questions, nothing.why? because I have more than likely backed that chippie or sherrif up in a vehicle stop and if not, I probably will eventually. so if I want to do a little spirited drive early in the morning, I am going to as long as traffic is light.

Ill post the vids as soon as I get home. In 5th gear at 60 mph is under 3K rpms and thats usually my normal drive through that area. I didnt expect to get flamed and I am asking for some knowledge on the matter but hey its a forum. And unfortuantely in my opinion, the Z as a stock car isnt what I expected it to be. I am thinking of buying another Oil Cooler from GTM and having them installing it which will more than likely solve my issue then hopefully I can go to cal speedway or willow springs with many of the forum members in so cal here.

Why would you buy another GTM Oil Cooler after the last incident? Or are you referring to upgrading to the larger setrab cooler?

true. but I figure if I have installed by "professional" the issue wont arise hopefully but I am most certainly not skilled enough to even drive the car hard enough to best the standard size oil cooler. I never saw what had happened to Travisjb but I haven't asked him what kit he had. I like the Z a lot, even though I say I hate it and shoulda waited and bought a Z06. I want to enjoy the Z As much as I can before I get rid of it but you guys will see once I post the vids. If you're not sugar coating your statements and DO NOT see oil temps over 230 with aggressive driving, you'l be in wtf mode all day once I post the vids. My car will shoot from 210-230 in just a 1st-3rd gear pull at WOT. it bugs the crap out of me.

btw did your package arrive in good condition or did they play soccer with it?
