So I changed my oil about a month ago. Got in the car this evening to leave made it about 100 yards down the road the oil light came on so I immediately stopped checked my oil and it was almost empty.. probably about a quart left.
Pushed it all the way back to my house and in my driveway where my car sits is a huge puddle of oil. Long story short my plug fell off somehow and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know where I can get a replacement plug? Part # or something of the nature? I don't know if they are universal or whatever as I have never had to buy a drain plug. |

+1 for the magnetic drain plug. It was under $20 iirc and well worth it since Nissan will charge you some ridiculous amount for the factory plug regardless.

When you are out buying the drain plug, pick up a torque wrench and remember 25 ft-lb (34.4 Nm)

May I respectfully ask why the drain plug fell out? You said you did the oil change yourself. Do you use a use a torque wrench to install the plug? Have you checked to determine whether the existing threads are stripped? I would check to see the condition the threads before ordering a new drain lug of any kind. If they are stripped, then you will be required to go to an oversized drain plug. If so, there are self-tapping drain plugs, but there are tricks to installing these.

+1000 Get the version with the nipple and all you'll have to do is attach a hose (you can get one at Osh, Ace, Home Depot, etc.) and put the hose in a catch basin, flip a lever, and watch the oil drain. When done, the flip the lever back, remove the hose, and dispose of the old oil.But first, as has been pointed out, make sure that your oil pan threads have not been stripped.
