When draining the pan it does not remove fluid from the torque converter and why multiple drain and refill's are necessary. If you only did it once try a few more pan dump and refills.
Thank you Tractionless

took car to dealer for the transmission fluid change. It improved everything... except this

I have since taken the car to the dealership and tried recreating the issue for them and here are some findings:

In manual mode, 3rd gear to 4th gear... clicking noise sometimes incredibly faint, others louder, you can feel the vibration on the floor when it does. The sound appears to be coming from the transmission area... or at least up front. Not diff.

However, after it has been driving hot for a while, there is also a kicking or thumping acommpanying this, but this only happens if I try recreating the issue doing it over and over again after a while... it won't show together with the clicking the first 10 times or so... this thumping feels more like a differential kind of thumping (bushings are fine, z1 Motorsports urethane)

The weird part:

- ONLY does this from 3th to 4th
- ONLY if I change between 2k rpm and 4.5k rpm.
- ONLY if there is noticeable load on throttle ON these ranges..
and more if the load is less than wide open throttle. More so on a hill climb.

It:

-WONT do it if I change gears with a small load on any rev range
-WONT do it if I rev higher first and then change (with or without much load)
-WONT do it in D mode, just manual.

The dealership said the transmission is fine... and that the ticking noise may be a lose panel of sorts or something... but that wouldn't explain the sometimes thumping/kicking thaf it does with the same conditions as the clicking... the thumping/kicking they chuck up to the 7at not liking manual changes at lower RPMs from 3rd to 4th, with noticeable throttle load.

I've searched the forum and I've found VERY SLIGHT references to my issue with people pointing exactly that 3rd to 4th change is picky and obnoxious... and that one has to drag out 3rd and not short shift.

It feels a bit concerning even if everything else in the transmission feels perfectly fine and ive been told by 2 different mechanics the transmission is fine

Thank you

Sorry for long reply
