Default New Part at Z1 - Shifter Spring

It's totally ironic, that I was having a thought about making stiffer shifter springs for my car, and I check Z1 and they have this part:

MTech Shifter Spring

I'm not sure about the details, but what my theory is that a stiffer spring will assist in a faster 2-3 shift. I personally shift my car from 2-3 by just pushing pretty much straight forward - and letting the spring push the shifter back to the neutral axis. My thought was if I had a stiffer shifter spring, it would make that motion quicker and more reliable.

If this MTech spring isn't stiffer - then I have no idea.

Will it keep me from shifting from 2 to 5 when I'm in a shifting frenzy?

It would technically assist in preventing that, theoretically. The increased spring pressure would help keep your shift going on the right track. I would do this mod if it is indeed stiffer than OEM - even though our OEM spring is pretty decent, I prefer a stiff spring for my shifter.

I guess all we really need is one person to buy them then we can match the springs up and buy them, surely 2 small springs will not cost 40 bucks on the open market or they would not be making any $$$.

From Legomaniac post on myg37.............

"MTEC shifter springs. The springs were certainly stiffer than stock, but the difference is very, very slight. I would say side-to-side slop is reduced by somewhere in the 5-10% range. The shifter doesn't snap back into neutral. I only spent $40 on them, and I was in the area doing the exhaust and transmission fluid, but I wouldn't recommend them. Install was a pain, and I'd imagine that in the time it took me to install them, I could have installed a STS. If for some reason you have the transmission out of your car, then by all means go for it".

I might order these though to at least give it shot, anybody on here try them out?

I installed them, the difference is minimal, slightly stiffer. overall feels good but could be placebo. don't expect any drastic changes

I had already ordered before I saw reviews for z/g37. I had installed today, and can't tell a difference. Well only the side to side action in neutral I can tell is stiffer. Seems like our factory springs are just fine. Even squeezing springs with fingers mtec vs stock feels pretty close.

This is a skippable mod.

Too early to tell but I'm went to track and ripped off fast , redline shifts and never had any gear hang up. Could be a positive!

But I'll update in a few weeks.

any update on these? or if anyone else has installed them?

if the higher rev shifts are smoother i might consider doing it with the next fluid change
